Beets for Liver Detoxification
One of the best natural aids for liver detoxification are beets. They are very nutritious and a great liver cleanser. Also, you get benefit from the entire beet – greens and all. To add beets to your liver cleansing diet, get a bunch from your local grocer. As always, organic is best. Choose beets that still have the greens attached.
To prepare the beets, cut off the greens and set aside. Peel the beets and slice them. Toss them in some olive oil, your favorite herbs, and salt and pepper to taste. Roast them in the oven at 375 degrees for about 30 minutes. Poke them with a fork to be sure they are tender. Enjoy them with dinner and feel good that you are getting the added bonus of natural detoxification.
As for the greens, they are great to use in fresh vegetable juice. Clean and use them with whatever greens you typically throw in your juicer. Consuming beet greens are very good for liver detoxification.
Don’t be alarmed, however, if your feces are red the day after consuming beets or beet greens. This is perfectly normal!
Your liver is the most important organ for detoxifying the body. It cleanses our systems. It is sometimes helpful to do a liver cleanse to keep your liver functioning properly. I take milk thistle as part of my supplement regime. Milk thistle helps the liver to detoxify. I consider it an important supplement.
Proper liver function is also important for our metabolism. If your liver is properly functioning, your metabolism will improve.
Here are some important ways you can support your liver function:
Start each morning with fresh lemon juice squeezed into purified water. Add a little Himalayan sea salt. Drinking this daily helps flush and decongest the liver. I start each day with this practice and have come to depend on it. If I don’t have my lemon water, I get cranky! It used to be coffee.
Eat fresh, organic beets and/or drink beet and vegetable juice regularly. Beets are an excellent liver cleanser.
Chlorophyll drinks and other green drinks should be consumed regularly. This will aid in liver cleansing.
Consume high quality protein foods. These foods are necessary to restore and sustain liver function. Try some free-range omega-3 eggs, cold water wild caught fish, raw nuts and seeds and whole grains are beneficial.
Nutritional antioxidants such as vitamin E, zinc and selenium should be considered. These antioxidants are essential for protecting the liver from the damage of free radicals.
Your overall lifestyle choices are so important. Liver restoration requires lots of fresh air, regular exercise, adequate rest, natural foods and a minimum of twice your body weight in ounces of pure water daily. Other liquids do not count toward the required water intake.
Take care of your liver! Liver cleansing is vital to good health. Follow these tips and your liver will thank you!
